We work in the same city, walk the same streets, but our inner lives make us very different, shaping how we each see this shared world.
Places and things we hold dear are different for each of us, so our lives carry different truths. Personal feelings, not explicitly stated, can bring great intensity to photographs: some understated images can carry a powerful emotional charge, bridging our sacrosanct private worlds and everyday life and, so we hope, resonating with the varied experiences of the viewers.
This exhibition combines multiple visions, shown in a place where we have met, many times, across the past decade.
Ten years ago, Paddy Summerfield initiated photography gatherings at his home (the setting for Mother And Father, his first published book). It was a forum to discuss all aspects of photography, including exhibitions, editing and publishing, and to enjoy and support each other's work, and the group continues, in gratitude.
