Crowdfunding Creative Ideas for Artists is a one-day workshop designed to help creatives take control of their fundraising through Kickstarter.
In today’s challenging funding climate, traditional grants and institutional support are becoming increasingly scarce. This workshop offers a practical and inspiring alternative: learning how to successfully finance your project by building your own community of supporters.
Whether you are planning to publish a photobook, develop a new artwork, or bring another passion project to life, this session will provide you with the tools and confidence to run a successful crowdfunding campaign.
What to expect on the day
Morning session: Case studies of creative crowdfunding campaigns, exploring how visual storytelling, audience engagement, and reward design contribute to success. We will also cover the essentials of creating a clear, realistic budget that includes production, fulfilment, and platform fees.
Afternoon session: A step-by-step approach to campaign planning. Participants will map out their own project timelines, identify key audiences, and strategise ways to extend their reach beyond immediate networks. The session will also address sustainability: how to stay motivated, focused, and balanced during a live campaign.
Lunch break – 45 mins
By the end of the workshop, you will leave with a personalised Kickstarter roadmap, including a preliminary campaign plan, budget outline, and promotional strategy – ready to refine and launch when the time is right.

About the workshop leader
The session is led by artist Ania Ready, who has successfully used crowdfunding to publish her own photobook and to raise funds for community projects, including a gravestone for the modernist writer Sophie Gaudier-Brzeska earlier this year. She has also supported a number of artists in running their own successful crowdfunding campaigns. www.aniaready.com
