GETTING TO AND FROM OXFORD
By Train
Oxford has two train stations.
Oxford Station (12-minute walk, 0.6 mile to the centre) operates regular direct services to London Paddington (1 hour), Birmingham New Street (1 hour 20 mins), Reading and others, with less frequent direct services also available to Manchester, Newcastle and Southampton.
Oxford Parkway Station (21-minute bus ride, 3.7 miles to the centre) operates twice-hourly services to London Marylebone (55 minutes), High Wycombe, Bicester Village (10 mins) and other stations. The station is next to the Water Eaton Park & Ride where the 500 bus operates the same hours as the trains and takes 12 minutes to the city centre.
By Coach
Gloucester Green Bus Station is a 6-minute walk from the centre.
Direct coach services run to and from London Victoria 24 hours a day (taking from 1 hour 36 mins) with the Oxford Tube, while National Express provide connections across the country.
By Car
Oxford is a small city with significant traffic. We’d highly recommend leaving your car at home.
If you do decide to drive, be aware that a new temporary congestion charge for all cars is being introduced on October 29th. The congestion charge fee is £5. Find out more information here.
On-street parking is also expensive and can be hard to find. There are five Park and Ride car parks on the outskirts of the city with regular buses running to and from the city. You’ll need to pay for parking and a bus ticket, or a combined ticket.
Most of our city centre venues are within easy walking distance of each other. The city is also served by Voi scooters and Lime bikes.
Oxford Bus Company and Stagecoach Bus operate bus services across the city.
You’ll find comprehensive information on all travel to, from and around the city on the Oxford Travel Options website.
GETTING AROUND OXFORD
Oxford City Council provides accessibility information, including the AccessAble accessibility guide to Oxford.
